Roland Bulkyn-Rackowe
MA VetMB MRCVS – Veterinary Surgeon
Roland enjoys the varied caseload of general practice. His many interests include feline medicine, especially care of the older cat, as well as cardiology, dermatology, dental care and diagnostic imaging.
He also has particular interest in intestinal surgery and has saved the lives of many a pet that has swallowed something that they should not have done! Roland’s ability to explain complex animal health issues in plain English helps to instil confidence in clients facing the trauma of knowing their much-loved pet may need to have to undergo surgery.
Carolize Compton
BvMedSci (Hons) BVM BVS (Hons) MRCVS – Veterinary Surgeon
Carolize qualified as a veterinary surgeon at the University of Nottingham in 2015. She worked locally in Gloucester for a number of years and joined us here at Woodlands in 2021 after time in mixed practice and travelling in New Zealand. Carolize enjoys all aspects of general practice and heads-up our exotic department.
Hannah Denton
DVM MRCVS – Veterinary Surgeon
Hannah is originally from Tenessee and qualified in 2017. Hannah moved to the UK at the start of 2023 and joined the Woodlands team in June. Hannah has a special interest in surgery and dentistry and loves dachshunds!
Tamsin Hannah
BVM&S BSc MRCVS – Veterinary Surgeon
After doing a degree in Animal Science at Wye College, London University, Tamsin graduated from Edinburgh in 1997. She worked in mixed practice in Norfolk and Evesham before joining Woodlands in 2004. Tamsin is one of our part-time vets and has an interest in feline medicine.
Ella Jones
BVSc MRCVS – Veterinary Surgeon
Ella qualified from Bristol University in 2022 and after a period of working in small animal practice in Worcestershire, joined us in February 2024. She enjoys all aspects of being a vet, and in particular is keen to advance her surgical and diagnostic imaging skills.
Her hobbies outside of work include outdoor pursuits such as surfing, paddle boarding and scuba diving with her partner, baking the team sweet treats and travelling to new countries.
Gemma Major
Head Veterinary Nurse
Joined Woodlands in 2018, after qualifying from Hartpury University with a BSc Hons in Veterinary Nursing in 2005. She completed a certificate in feline medicine in 2022 and soon after became head nurse. She has a keen interest in feline nursing and surgical nursing.
Emily Cox
Veterinary Nurse
Emily joined Woodlands in March 2023 from an equine practice, and has always wanted to work with small animals. Her hobbies include weekend partying and walking her gorgeous dog Charlie and looking after her rescue cat.
Claire Doyle
Consulting Nurse
Claire has been our consulting nurse for over a decade now and has been nursing in total for more than 25 years. As well as being a fully qualified registered veterinary nurse she has a certificate in clinical animal behaviour. Claire also manages our popular TLC Pet Health Plan and is experienced in advising on puppy and kitten development. Having completed several courses on nutrition and dental care she is happy to advise pet owners on any subject or condition.
Samantha Harris
Patient Care Assistant
Sam qualified as a PCA in 2009 and has 14 years of experience and knowledge working as a PCA in practice, and joined Woodlands in December 2022. She especially enjoys feline care and laboratory work. She has two adorable rescue cats, Bumble and Brie.
Megan Knight
Student Veterinary Nurse
Megan joined the team in 2022 as a patient care assistant, but is now at Hartpury University studying to become a veterinary nurse. She particularly enjoys patient care but is looking to extend her knowledge of exotics.
Davina Smith
Patient Care Assistant
Davina joined Woodlands in January 2023 after completing a dog grooming qualification. She is currently a PCA in which she’s gaining great experience, ready to start her veterinary nursing training. She has a special interest in inpatient care.
Jeraize Tombs
Veterinary Nurse
Jeraize began her journey at Woodlands in 2016 as a Student Veterinary Nurse and graduated from Hartpury College in 2018 with a BSc Honours in Veterinary Nursing, before joining team full time. She enjoys all areas of general nursing and inpatient care here at Woodlands, especially caring for feline patients as well as having a passion for horses.
Amy Underdown
Veterinary Nurse
Amy qualified in 2006 and joined the Woodlands team in 2023. She enjoys rabbit and exotic medicine and has studied further in this area.
Naomi Walton
Veterinary Nurse
Naomi qualified from Hartpury University in 2022 with a BSc (Hons) in Veterinary Science. She joined the Woodlands family originally during her placement year in 2019 and rejoined after qualifying. She loves her job and has an interest in anaesthesia and client communication.
